Week 10B: Blogging for Business

Image
Organization for Blogging When it comes to categorizing my blog. I think that I wanted to categorize my posts by different home decor areas such as living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, closets, etc... Each space would get its own category that way I could discuss the different design options, tips and tricks, and products that can be used in that space. I think that these categories will allow my business to grow because it makes it easier for potential clients to see what projects that I am working on and what tips that I have provided that shows my level of expertise. Also, I can add my own products that I create or endorse on my blog so that people know what products I have and where to buy it! By providing organization and a personal touch to your blog, you can allow your customer to get to know you and your product/brand! The more they know and like you then the more they will buy from you!

Week 10A: Blogging for Business

Getting Personal To many these days, all blogging is personal. From the momapreneur who blogs about the bath and body products she produces or a celebrity who blogs about the latest makeup trends. It seems blogging went from NOT to HOT. In that time, blogs when from boring non-fiction pieces on World of Warcraft to something everyone wants to do. But now, has it become too personal? Adding human interest to your business blog can add appeal, relatability, and give it just enough of a personal touch that your audience with understand and hopefully buy. However, there are times for a personal touch and there are times when you have to provide your audience with facts, instructions, or helpful information. As bloggers, we have to be careful to not make it too personal and get off topic. Think of your own experiences. There have been too many times when I have found a rather interesting article that was related to a topic I was researching but when I began to read I learned more ab...

Week 8B: Twitter

For me, it was a little difficult to find similar twitter accounts to follow. I had to come up with a strategy to find the connections that I did. I first tried searching green home decor. But many of the topics or images that came up where literally "green" colored interiors. That is not really what I was looking for. So I decided to start my looking up recycled and/or reclaimed furniture. I also looked up bohemian interiors because many times the bohemian style will incorporate found, recycled, or vintage items that are considered eco-friendly and sustainable because you are reusing an item. I also looking up eco-friendly and environmentally friendly and found many accounts that were all about saving the earth. I also searched interior design, home decor, and eco homes. It was a bit of a challenge but I got the hang of it after a while of experimentation. I ended up finding from my searches a bohemian interior designer, two furniture stores, and an interior design resource ...

Week 8A: Twitter

There were not many twitter accounts that had the same services that my business offers; however, there were many accounts that had to do with interior design and many that had to do with sustainability and eco-conscious issues! I combined the two topics to find twitter accounts similar to my account. The accounts that I followed were what I want my twitter and business facebook pages to look like. They were updated frequently, had well organized and planned posts, and many followers. I am very new to twitter. I have heard about it but was a little intimidated and not sure how or in what way to use it. I see that for businesses twitter can be helpful because it can connect you with potential customers, people who may have an interest in a topic that your business it in, and other businesses similar to yours. Home Decor Maven organizes her twitter more like a blogger. She provided home decor tricks and tips along with awesome recommendations of products that are similar to her style. ...

Week 8B: Get Visual

For some businesses visual media may not be the best option; however, for my interior design studio it is the perfect option. It allows clients and future clients to see what past projects you have done, provides them with some tips and tricks so they know you understand design, and engages people to learn and hopefully contact me to book an appointment. I found 4 other business accounts on Instagram of other interior designers that also use visual media in their businesses. Susan Rowe has a great Instagram page one thing that I like about her visual media is that she relates it to the location. You know she is an interior designer in California because of her many posts of VW Buses, Palm Trees, and the beach. I think this is very effective in letting your clients know where you work and what style you work with. Obviously, Susan Rowe is an interior designer for luxury beach houses. This can be seen in her many pictures and videos of beach houses. She is smart by niche-ing  her wo...

Week 8A: Get Visual

Visual media is extremely important for most products and services especially now when social media platforms are encouraging and making it easy to post or send visual media. Before, I even started my Facebook business page, I got myself on other social media platforms because I thought it would be a fun hobby to write about and upload pictures of interiors. However, it skyrocketed once I started my visual media on platforms like Instagram. I have a total of 90-100 followers depending on the day and whether I have recently uploaded any visual media on Instagram. I chose instagram to be the first social media platform for my business because in my opinion it is more popular than Facebook and more businesses and products are getting on Instagram daily. I feel that my business instagram is effective because I get at least 30-45 likes on each post, a few comments, and followers every time I post a picture or video. I post almost every day at the minimum 4-5 times a week. I use preset hasht...

Week 7B: Intro to Facebook Strategy

Image
I created 3 dynamic posts for this week! Two posts are parts of each other and discussing the same topic while the last post is an offer to engage my audience to hopefully buy one of my products! The first and second posts are about making a good first impression with the exterior design of the home including the landscaping, front entrance, and paint color. The second post is a link to all the items that I discussed in the first post! The third scheduled post is an offer for E-design package, which is virtual interior design for my audience that doesn't live near me and is more budget savvy!

Week 7A: Intro to Facebook Strategy

I chose to like other business pages that had to do with interior design. I either chose other designers that I could network with or people with complementary businesses that could help mine out. The business pages that I liked are: - MarijuanaMammas - GinaMarie Xocal - John Tompkins Upholstery - LuAnn Nigara - Ruth Wilson - Taylor Rentmaster - Jean Luc Comperat I can network with all of these people! I chose many of these people because I am a part of a few facebook groups that I have a few friends in. They have added me and asked me to like there business page. Facebook is great for networking with others! I think that I can continue to interact with groups and add other similar pages to grow my business because the more people who know you or your product the more people will feel comfortable about buying from you!

Week 6: Facebook Page

Image
Welcome to Facebook Business! The Business pages on Facebook enable an organization or product to engage with its users, launch new products, and keep people interested and engaged with the product or service. On a Facebook business page, you have two key components that can be used to continue a relationship with potential buyers and consumers: post reach and post engagement. With a post reach, the business administrator can see how many people actually saw the Facebook post. With post engagement, the business administrator can see how many people engaged by liking, commenting, or sharing the post. It is important that when running a Facebook business page an administrator knows the difference. It allows the administrators to have insights so that they can create see in what ways there product or service impacts people, how people are using it, how it can be marketed to further audiences, strengths and weaknesses in the product/service and much more. Once users begin to engage in ...
