Week 8B: Get Visual

For some businesses visual media may not be the best option; however, for my interior design studio it is the perfect option. It allows clients and future clients to see what past projects you have done, provides them with some tips and tricks so they know you understand design, and engages people to learn and hopefully contact me to book an appointment. I found 4 other business accounts on Instagram of other interior designers that also use visual media in their businesses. Susan Rowe has a great Instagram page one thing that I like about her visual media is that she relates it to the location. You know she is an interior designer in California because of her many posts of VW Buses, Palm Trees, and the beach. I think this is very effective in letting your clients know where you work and what style you work with. Obviously, Susan Rowe is an interior designer for luxury beach houses. This can be seen in her many pictures and videos of beach houses. She is smart by niche-ing  her work so that she gets all the clients that need their beach house renovated or designed. Kate Brock uses her visual media completely differently. She has many pictures of her family along with her interior design posts. In her bio, she describes herself as an interior designer and mother. Her social media is effective and popular because she is hitting a demographic of women who have children and love interior design. Most women in that age group are beginning to settle down, buy their first home, and with that comes interior design jobs because most likely she wants it done professionally. Kate Brock has the most followers out of the interior designers I picked. She receives the most likes and comments on her posts as well. My friend Laura is a specialty designer, she is a colorist. Colorists help clients pick a color palette, paint, textiles, and even furniture for their home. I love her visual media on Instagram because she takes pictures of nature and breaks down the color palette for her followers. She doesn't have as many posts as the other interior designers but she is very popular. Cassie Thompson has the best social media/visual media of all the interior designers I follow. She has super aesthetic and engaging photographs and videos that make you want to drool. She has over 500 followers, the most likes, and comments out of anyone else I follow. Her style is farmhouse chic which is very popular right now so she is getting a lot of traffic onto her social media because she has very engaging photos. They are all professionally taken! I learned from this assignment that high quality photographs and video is important, niche-ing yourself into a category is best so that you don't have too many clients, and the more posts you have and the longer you have been on social media the more people follow, like, and engage with your posts. Patience is a virtue for this one!
