Week 3B: Communication and Buisness

I researched Five Home Staging business websites and social media. Here are the results!

-Elements Home Staging
-http://www.elementshomestaging.com/
-No social media found
-This business had no social media which means they are not using it well.
In order to gain customers, they need to have some type of online presence other than
there website.

-HomeScapes Home Staging
-http://www.homescapes-sd.com/
-The social media is visible from the home page of website.
-The links are well used
-9/6/17 was the last post on social media
-HomeScapes uses there social media well. It is engaging, they post frequently, and it gets
people to contact them for jobs. They seem to use Facebook the most but they do have a Pinterest
and Twitter but it isn't updated as much.

-Showhomes San Diego- North Coast
-http://www.showhomessandiegonc.com/
-By far the best website, when it comes to visible social media.
-The links are well used and easily accessible.
-Last post 9/5/17
-Showhomes San Diego could update there social media a little more frequently but overall they
have an outstanding presence.

-Redefined Home Staging
-http://redefinedhomestaging.com/
-Social media was not visible until the bottom of the page.
-Only two social media links: Yelp and Instagram
-Last post 8/24/17
-Redefined Home Staging was very weak on the use of social media. It seemed like an
after thought rather than something they are updating frequently.

-Coast Home Staging
-http://www.coasthomestaging.com/
-The social media was at the bottom of the page making it feel less important.
-The links are well used but not updated daily.
-Last post 8/20/17
-Coast Home Staging could do better. They have a social media presence but it is not that big
and they do not update their social media as frequently.

I loved this assignment! It really allowed me to see the strengths and weaknesses to this industry.
It also showed what you should make a priority. While many customers are going to visit your website for information about your services they are also checking on your social media presence. If you do not have a social media presence, your social media is not visible on your page, or the social media is not updated, then most likely the customer is going to move on.

I realized through this assignment how important it is to have your social media visible on your website and for it to be up-to-date. I also was able to see what type of social media to use for my type of business. Not all social media works for all businesses. I found that in the Home Staging business the top social media platforms consumers are frequenting are Houzz, Facebook, Instagram, and Yelp. These social media platforms have been built for this industry or are frequented by my target market.

In my opinion, before I would spend time and money getting a website, I think it is better to focus your initial energy and resources on social media. It is a presence you are going to have to have anyways and it is really the hardest part vs the other things you have to set up. I also realized that you have to be patient. Your social media presence doesn't just happen overnight you have to work at it. Slow and steady and you will be there! It takes time so patience is key!
