Week 1: First Blog Entry

Welcome! My name is Savannah and I hope that you enjoy my blog! I chose the template "Contempo" because I think that it reflects my style and personality but it also could be used for my business one day. The first feature that I found appealing from this template was how organized it was. I love organization and order so for me this template was perfect. When you first arrive to the page, you can see the blog's Author and a little biography that can be written. I think this is essential, at least for me, because I would like people to know that I am the administrator and author of the blog. This helps in my line of business because people need to trust me with their personal items and their home. In order to gain that trust, I need to be upfront and forthright with my clients that goes for my internet presence as well as in real life. I also love the bio section underneath the picture because once again it allows me to gain a clients or followers trust and also gives them a chance to get to know me before we meet in person. I appreciate that this theme also has a "view profile" feature as well that allows my followers to see my "Blogger" profile so they can contact me, get to know more about me, and even get a link to my business website.

I love how responsive "Contempo"is for my followers! The user interface is sleek and seamless, which allows multiple platforms such as desktop/laptop users, smartphone users, and tablet users to gain access to the blog easily without any formatting or technical problems or delays. This is great especially today because most people who are going to visit your blog are using their smartphone or tablet. The template doesn't limit who can visit and follow your blog. The theme also has 5 different colors that it comes in so you can change your theme's color depending on the "mood" of your blog. I love this feature because for me the theme has to be certain colors to allow my pictures to pop off the page and into viewer's minds.

This theme has large images, an organized sidebar, and even thumbnails that it generates so users can get to previous posts quickly! What more could you want out of a blog? For me, this template is a dream come true because it appeals to my blog's content and the followers that I am seeking to turn into potential clients. My followers get an organized, upfront look into my brand and who I am as a person, which can be accessed from virtually anywhere! I hope that you are all enjoying it as much as I am! Until next time...

  3. I love the simplicity of your template! I too love organization and order. The followers can immediately understand how your blog is organized. I think that makes the blog way more appealing.

I didn't give the mobile aspect much thought as you did. I think once I get a handle on how to work the templates, I will need to design it to make it mobile friendly as well.

On the left side of your page, the links (I think that is the right word) labeled "report abuse, archive, visit profile, followers," are you able to arrange those or do you just have to go with what the template offers?

  8. I'm so impressed by your knowledge of what the good qualities in a template are. It's fun to see your photo on the left side, which seems different than others I've seen. I wondered how we can know that a certain template can be used by multiple platforms. It triggered a question in me about what kind of blog or template would not be user friendly on many platforms. Perhaps in this class we'll learn more about that. Your template certainly does allow you to build your brand I believe, whatever you choose that to be.
